Indian infrastructure giant L&T (Larsen & Toubro) has partnered with US chipmaker NVIDIA to build and scale a gigawatt-scale AI data centre infrastructure in India. The proposed venture under the India AI Mission was announced on the third day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in Delhi NCR. Under the partnership, L&T will combine its engineering and infrastructure capabilities with NVIDIA’s AI stack — including GPUs, CPUs, networking, accelerated storage platforms, enterprise software and reference architectures — to enable large-scale AI adoption across industries. As part of the plan, L&T will scale NVIDIA GPU cluster deployments at its Chennai data centre to up to 30 MW capacity within its 300-acre scalable campus. It will also deploy infrastructure at a new 40 MW data centre in Mumbai, which is currently under development. The proposed “AI factory” will function as an “AI-ready” data centre designed to support large-scale AI workloads across sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, financial services, healthcare and public services. The infrastructure would support sovereign AI capabilities, allowing critical data and AI models to be developed and deployed within India. According to L&T, the facility aims to provide enterprise-grade AI computing with predictable performance, security and scalability, helping…  Read MoreInc42 Media
