The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) and Pixxel, a planetary intelligence firm, finalised their agreement on 21 January to construct India’s INR 1,200 crore national Earth Observation (EO) constellation. Under a public-private partnership (PPP) framework, Pixxel will lead a group of four Indian space enterprises in the design, construction, ownership, and operation of the nation’s first privately led national satellite system.The alliance plans to deploy 12 satellites covering very high-resolution optical, multispectral, synthetic aperture radar (SAR), and hyperspectral imaging over the course of the next five years, investing more than INR 1,200 crore.
